Notes: Baron Clavius ruled the County as Regent after the death of the Countesses last body and until she came back, a period of 17 years. He was far from happy to relinquish control, but duly took the oaths as was required by his strong sense of personal honour. He has been in grumpdom for sometime, and has three times forgotten since the Countess returned; the next time may be the last.

He hates Sluagh with a passion, a dislike only mild in comparison with his burning hatred of Redcaps. The fact that one of them claims to be in some sense his 'son', rescued him from forgetting, and is said to have been knighted by Gwydion himself has thrown him into deep despair and confusion, especially as Hermes' soothsaying seems to bear out the truth of these claims. he has taken to storming angrily around the Court; even the Countess is treating him with respect these days.

He is quite fond of Math however, and thinks the boy has done well for himself. He would even have considered asking the Countess if he could relinquish his title and join his 'sons' court but for the irritating presence of Jchad, and the Coven's terrible (in Clavius' eyes) reputation.. His greatest fear now is that Math should go Unseelie, and that he should die before seeing if it is true and his hero Gwydion walks the Earth again.

He is an arch-royalist - only his oaths of fealty led him to fight on the parliamentarian side against Berwin Lindell, and the fact he regards the man's claim to True Kingship as somewhat dubious. Where are the omens? But a Redcap King? Unthinkable!
