BACKGROUND
The scion of an influential and wealthy family
Alexander had all of life's advantages. He had
an expensive education and was to have attended
one of the country's most prestigious universities.
However the young Rothman had ever been an inquisitive
youth and he had little time for the plan laid out for
him by his family. He turned his attentions instead
to the field of journalism, attracted by the challenge
of unearthing hidden truths and revealing them to a
disbelieving public.
In his early years his work took him all over the globe,
during which time he picked up the skills necessary for
survival in a hostile world. His attention was never
held by one job or place for very long until he was
assigned to investigate the disappearance of an army
expedition to one of the smaller islands off the north
Borneo coast. He followed up a number of leads that
eventually led him well off the beaten track, sending him
on a journey deep into the country's interior.
Amid the shadow-guarded rain forest of the Borneo uplands
he discovered a world hidden from the view of modern man,
a world peopled by silent tribes who worshipped dark and
mysterious gods in cyclopean temples seemingly birthed in
some antedilluvian age.
