Sebastian Lux

i) Lux first appeared in public gaze in August 1999, by which time he had already founded the Church of the Inner Light, a religious cult.

ii) Sebastian Lux is probably an alias; there is no one of that name in any government files, and she has been told that Lux is simply the Latin word for Light.

iii) Lux's fingerprints have been lifted from objects he has handled, and do not match the files of any person in Scotland Yard's files, nor the fingerprints of any known UK security or intelligence operative.

iv) Despite this, Lux has shown knowledge of shadowing and surveillance techniques, which suggests he has at some point received considerable intelligence and surveillance training. We believe he may be a foreign national in the employ of a non-domestic intelligence agency or a highly skilled private investigator at the time of C23's first mission, which involved surveillance of Lux (see below).

v) Lux's Church did not meet in a conventional Church building but was instead part of the 'House Church' movement, a post-1970 evangelical Christian movement. Two C23 operatives attended a meeting of the cult, which was destroyed following the first mission. They have not been assigned to any mission since, as they may have been 'turned' by their exposure to Lux's methods.

vi) Routine security checks on other members of the Church found most to be intelligent, respectable middle-class professionals. Three members have since been studied intensively Miss Alice Jefferson (now working for the UK Government), Mr Alec West (believed deceased), and Miss Susie Nicholls (who recently died while in psychiatric care).

vii) Lux is known to use technologies beyond our understanding of physics and has been personally responsible for the death of at least one MI6 member, Adam Bains, as well as the disappearance of an entire Top Secret Naval Research Establishment crew. He is charismatic, psychotic, and highly dangerous.

viii) Senior C23 personnel are well known to Lux, who is aware of the identities of all agents except Agents Van Helsing and Biggles. He likely remains your most dangerous adversary.

ix) Detailed information about Lux is known to Blue-level operatives. Yellow-plus ranked operatives can access further information in your briefing folders.

x) Lux is obsessed with the mythological entity known as the King In Yellow, from a play written by Louis Castaigne. The King In Yellow is part of the Cthulhu Cycle Deities mythology, which ties into the Necronomicon.

xi) Recent investigations and statements from Miss Jefferson provide more background on Lux. He was once Carl Rogers, a US intelligence psychological warfare agent with a history of covert operations.

Notes on the background of Sebastian Lux: CLEARANCE BLUE

Lux is believed to be Carl Rogers, a US psychological warfare agent. After a nervous breakdown, he disappeared and started the Church of the Inner Light. He became obsessed with the King In Yellow and sought to bring it to Earth through the use of hyperdimensional physics.

Rogers' knowledge of magic, voodoo, and the occult became a driving force in his downfall. His experiences in the New Orleans swamp cults and his exposure to forbidden knowledge transformed him into Sebastian Lux, the dangerous adversary you now face.
